| Umeå's primary cultural activities are the International Film Festival, the International Jazz Festival, and the Norrland Opera; it also has Bildmuseet Contemporary Art, the Västerbotten Museum and the Outdoor Sculpture Park. Owing to its interesting cultural activities, Umeå is currently a candidate for European Capital of Culture 2014.
