The city of Guanajuato is by nature a center for cultural expression which seeks to establish contact with other cities in order to strengthen relations, exchange experiences, and above all, to establish bonds of friendship that unite common interests beyond borders.

The 2009-2012 City Council of Guanajuato sends warm greetings to each of our sister and friendship cities, with the hope of deepening the understanding and knowledge between nations and stimulating our respective citizens' growth and development.

It is clear that in a globalized world, friendly relations between regions, cities and communities lead us to become better acquainted and to present proposals that help our people to understand other cultures, while maintaining each culture's unique identity.

Through the Sister Cities Program, the City Council of Guanajuato, in the name of its inhabitants, has over the years formalized sisterhood and friendship agreements.

The city of Guanajuato offers its cultural tradition originating from the noble task of extracting riches from the depths of the earth, its history present in the birth of the Mexican identity, its century-old traditions, and a University that for more than 200 years has been an inexhaustible source of creativity and knowledge, strengthening the spirit of the people of Guanajuato.
